The Hindley is named after one of the original fathers of South Australia, the great Charles Hindley. One of the founding Directors of the South Australian Company, Hindley played an important role in establishing South Australia in 1836.
As a Politician and Business Man, Charles Hindley lead an interesting life up until his death in in 1857, as a result of Alcohol Poisoning from drinking 6 pints of Brandy in 72 hours. Hindley's legend will live on in the West End of Adelaide.
